Our History

As we traveled the world through the work of People for Missions, our parent organization, we were confronted with the dire situation of the world’s orphans. In each community we began to invest in - from the mountains of Central America to rural villages in India – we found children in desperate need. We were faced with a mission; a mission with a high calling. Short-term relief was not the objective. Our vision was to see these children rescued and restored. It was to make them a part of our family and support them in discovering their potential and reaching their destiny. As People for Missions continued to expand its efforts, Houses of Hope followed.

Our first location, Case de Esperanza, was developed in 1992 in the valley of Zacapa, Guatemala. The compound grew from one house on twenty eight acres of land to six homes, fourteen full time staff, an on-site school called House of Hope Christian Academy, Votec Center for microbusiness and vocational training, a medical clinic, as well as a community center.

Since then, HOH has grown to include nearly 30 locations of operation in 11 different countries on 5 continents. We establish homes and community outreach centers that provide a safe and caring environment for children who have been orphaned and abandoned. Children in need continue to fuel our passion today – our goal is to see every one of them thrive in a loving environment.

We have assembled our team through proven relationships over the last 30 years - all of whom share the HOH vision and are committed to making it a reality. Our heart is to rescue one child at a time and to see the next generation change their communities, cities, nations and the world. Invigorated by your partnership, we will continue to change the world for these boys and girls together.
